Fifth and sixth panels for digipak

These are the fifth and sixth panels for our digipak, the fire represents the genre of the band as they are an all boy band and are rock/alternative. Also the font used for the name of the band and also the single represent the rock/alternative style of the band and it suits the bands image and the genre their music is. The idea of having the fire over the girl and the water over the boy is to show that the girl is more dangerous and not to be trusted in the relationship, just like how fire is dangerous. The water over the boy shows that he is the more vulnerable one out of the two and he is not as dangerous as the girl as he wouldn't cheat on her and he can be trusted.

Evaluation; third question

For the third evaluation question "What have you learnt from your audience feedback?" Seb and I answered the question in a powerpoint as we had already done a prezi for the second question and was planning to do a audio commentary with a video for the last question.

Evaluation; second question

For the second evaluation question "How effective is the combination of your main and ancillary texts?" Seb and I decided to do a prezi, as its a different technology and we wanted to use a range of technologies.

Evaluation- first question

For the first question "In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?" Seb and I decided to answer the question in a powerpoint.

Audio commentary

This is mine and Seb's audio commentary for our evaluation of our music video. This answers the last question of the evaluation questions which is "How did you use media technologies in the research and planning, construction and evaluation stages?" Seb and I decided to use a media technology such as video and audio commentary for this question rather than write it out on our powerpoint presentation with the other questions. In the audio commentary Seb discusses all of the media technologies that we used and how this helped us plan, construct and evaluate the process of making our music video. For example Seb discusses blogger and how this helped us keep track of all our planning and research and made it easier to refer to and refresh our memories when we started to make our music video, for example we uploaded our storyboard and shooting schedule onto our blogger accounts and this made it easier in the future for when we needed to access these.

This is mine and Seb's digipak for our music video. The front of the digipak has the name of the band 'Centrefold' as well as the name of the single 'Better Off Alone'. It also has two pictures of the person that got cheated on looking happy and sad, these are overlaid to create a more interesting effect. On the back of the digipak is the lyrics of the song, so the people who buy the digipak can not only listen to the song but also read the lyrics and find the real meaning of the song by having a copy of the lyrics. The inside of the digipak is two different photos of singer and the girlfriend who cheated, these are separated by the digipak as they are on two different sides, which again represents there separation to the people who buy the digipak.

Final draft of magazine advert

This is mine and Seb's final draft of our magazine advert for Centrefold's  'Better Off Alone' single. In the bottom right hand corner there is a picture of the front cover of the single which has the character that got cheated on by his girlfriend looking happy and sad, these two different photos are overlaid. On the advert there is the singer and the girlfriend that cheated looking away from each other, to represent there separation and there is a fiery smoke separating them even more. The font used of that says 'Centrefold' and 'Better Off Alone' is the same font used for the digipak, so this is a similarity between the two.

Final cut of our music video

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qbi8a8jo3Xw&feature=youtu.be

Above is the link to our final cut of our music video. I tried to upload the final cut in this post but for some reason blogger would not let me do this, so I had to upload it to YouTube instead.

In our final cut we have included the advice from audience feedback we got from our rough cut. We decided to include their advice because that is what the audience wanted to see and also its what they believe will make the music video stronger. Seb and I agreed with the advice and feedback they gave us and hopefully it has improved and made our music video stronger.

First draft of our evaluation

This is the first draft of our evaluation, the majority of the questions are either finished or almost finished with just a little bit more to add. For the last question, "How did you use technologies in the research and planning, construction and evaluation stages?" we decided we will present this in a voiceover, with a video playing on screen showing what is being spoken about. (Seb is doing the voiceover) We decided we will do this because it shows us using a different technology to present our answer and also ties in with the last question as it counts as using a technology in the evaluation stage.

The evaluation question about the audience feedback, we will record some people telling us what they thought about final cut music video and this will also count as presenting an answer to a question using a different technology.

Audience feedback

In our media lesson last Wednesday, Seb and I showed the class our final cut of our music video. Now having showed them both our rough cut and final cut they were able to give us some feedback about what has improved in their opinion compared to the rough cut. I think the majority of the feedback was positive, which reflects the fact that we took the feedback they gave us after they watched our rough cut, which we then added to our music video to create our final cut.

With this feedback we received last week, we are going to include this in our evaluation as this ties in with one of the questions. In the evaluation we will say if the feedback was helpful to us or not, if it helped us to improve our music video from rough cut to final cut etc.

As our music video's narrative is not in chronological order, one of our questions was did you understand the narrative? We decided to ask this question to see if they understood the narrative by piecing together the narrative as the music video is not in chronological order. I think most people from the class understood the narrative even if it wasn't obvious to them at the start of the video, but the more you watch the music video, the clearer the narrative becomes.

Lighting plan for the performance part of our music video

For our music video we decided we would like to have a performance part in different parts of the narrative. To do this we need a person that is good at lip syncing so it looks realistic and in time. The person we have decided to be the performer in our music video is somebody who is already in a band so hopefully this will be an good advantage to the performance parts. In terms of lighting we have decided to have a darkish room with two lights that are coming from the sides or the front to light up his face so it will show his lip syncing well and also his emotion as he sings the lyrics. We got inspiriation from a music video that Seb showed me on YouTube. The music video is Hero by a band called Skillet. Here is the link to the music video on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y9x2CHQClTU
Seb and I did some more filming on Saturday with our actors. We only had to do some more shots of the main character (that gets cheated on by his girlfriend) and the boy that the girlfriend cheated with fighting. This only took about half an hour as we knew what we wanted to do so we could just get on with it which is why it didn't take that long.

Seb is also planning to meet up with another person we have in mind to do our performance parts of our music video. Hopefully that will be done this week so we can edit it in to our music video and then our music video will be finished. Our idea for our music video is to have two lights shining on the actor who is doing the performance bits so his face is well lit and the emotion on his face will be visible as he is performing. The person we have chose to do the performance part of our music video is actually in a band so based on this he hopefully will be able to pull off a good performance for our video such as the lip syncing being in time with the music.

We also plan to take photos of the main character and the girl who cheated on him for our digipak and magazine advert. If we manage to get these photos this week we will be able to add them to our magazine advert and digipak and then these will also be completed.

Seb and I are in the process of doing the evaluation we have started all of the questions apart from one that Seb and I decided it would be an audio commentary with a video on screen showing what Seb is talking about. (Seb agreed to be the person talking on the audio commentary). So on Wednesday's lesson me and Seb will plan and write down what he needs to say in the commentary and what needs to be shown on screen as he is talking.
